Ertiga rental in Chennai, and what makes it different here
Chennai is a one-way city. More enquiries here are for a drop than for a round trip, and the phrasing people use is drop taxi rather than “one way cab” — which is exactly the wording the national aggregators optimise away from. If you are going to Madurai, Bangalore, Trichy or Tirupati and not coming back the same day, paying for one side is the cheaper booking and it is the one we lead with.
The second thing that shapes a Chennai fare is which road you leave on. Two corridors run south, and they are not interchangeable:
- ECR (East Coast Road) — the coastal route. This is the road for Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry: shorter to both, and a genuinely nicer drive.
- GST Road (NH32) — the inland highway. This is the road for Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Sriperumbudur’s industrial belt, and everything continuing to Trichy, Madurai and Kanyakumari.
A driver who does not know which of those your destination sits on will take the wrong one, and you will spend an extra hour finding out.
What Chennai actually books an Ertiga for
Temple runs with luggage. Tirupati is the highest-frequency paid car journey out of this city, and it is close to the ideal Ertiga trip: five or six people, bags, an overnight or pre-dawn departure, and a road that is mostly flat highway.
Airport transfers with a full family. MAA is close enough to the city that the transfer is cheap, but the reason people call for an Ertiga rather than a sedan is luggage — four suitcases and a family of five does not fit in a Dzire, and finding that out at the terminal is a bad morning.
The IT corridor. OMR from Perungudi down to Siruseri, and the Sriperumbudur belt on the other side of the city, generate steady corporate airport runs and early-morning pickups. Both need a car that is positioned the night before, not dispatched when you call at 5am.
Pickup areas we cover from Chennai
Anywhere inside the city, plus Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur without a surcharge. Beyond that we are still happy to come, but the fare starts where the car starts, and we will say so on the phone.
Why an Ertiga in Chennai
Chennai mostly books us for one-way drop taxi and Tirupati pilgrimage runs. That is the trip an Ertiga is built for: six seats, a boot that takes a family's luggage with the third row folded, and a per-kilometre cost well below a larger MPV on the same road.
Where it is the wrong car, we say so — six full-size adults on a full-day run should book something bigger, and there is no seventh seat. The Ertiga page has the measured boot figures and the honest account of the third row.
All bookings include a professional driver. We do not offer self-drive rentals.

Chennai Ertiga rental FAQs
Do you do one-way drop taxi from Chennai?
Yes, and it is most of what we do here. You pay for one side plus a minimum distance rather than the full return, which is why a Chennai to Madurai drop costs meaningfully less than a round trip.
Which road will the driver take to Pondicherry — ECR or GST?
ECR, in almost every case. It is the coastal road, it is shorter to Pondicherry and Mahabalipuram, and it is far more pleasant. GST Road is the right choice when you are heading to Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Sriperumbudur or onward to Trichy and Madurai.
Can you pick up from the OMR IT corridor early in the morning?
Yes. Early airport runs from OMR, Sholinganallur and Siruseri are routine for us, and we position the car the night before for anything before 6am.
How early should I leave Chennai for a Tirupati darshan?
Overnight or very early morning is the pattern almost every customer books, so that you are at the hills before the queue builds. Your driver will advise the exact departure time for your darshan slot when you book.
Does Chennai flooding affect bookings in the monsoon?
It can, during the north-east monsoon between roughly October and December. Some low-lying stretches and subways become impassable and the driver will route around them, which occasionally adds distance. We tell you before the trip rather than after.
