What we actually do at weddings

Not the couple’s car. That wants something larger and more formal, and if that is what you need we will say so and point you elsewhere.

What we do is everything else, which is most of the transport a wedding generates and almost none of what wedding-car pages talk about:

• Airport and station runs for guests arriving across several days
• Hotel to venue shuttling, repeatedly, at hours nobody planned for
• Temple visits in the days before, often with the older members of the family
• Shopping runs during the preparation week, which are more numerous than anyone expects
• Departures afterwards, spread across two or three days

That work is unglamorous, it is the bulk of the requirement, and it is where a 6+1 car with an easy step-in earns its place.

The Chennai season, and why it is tight

Wedding season runs broadly November to February, and in Chennai it collides with Margazhi — the December–January music and dance season, which fills the city with visitors and sabha-goers on its own schedule.

The result is that December and January are genuinely difficult months for vehicle availability across the city. Book weeks ahead rather than days, particularly if you need several cars.

Muhurtham timings compound it: many auspicious hours fall before dawn, which means cars positioned the night before rather than dispatched in the morning.

How we price it

Usually as a multi-day local package rather than trip by trip, because the pattern is long days, a lot of waiting, and many short hops. That is exactly what an hourly package is for, and it is cheaper than booking each movement.

Extra hours and extra kilometres are on the published rate card — so a day that overruns, which it will, does not produce a surprise.

Hours run garage-out to garage-in, which we state plainly because wedding days start early and end late and the difference matters.

Several cars beats one big one, usually

For guest movement, three or four Ertigas frequently work better than one large vehicle. Groups travel on their own timing instead of waiting for the slowest person, the cars can be in different places at once, and nobody is climbing into a bus in wedding clothes.

The exception is when a group genuinely must stay together, which for some family travel is the point.

Practical things worth deciding early

Who is the transport coordinator? Weddings where one person holds the plan run far better than weddings where six people call the driver directly.

Where can cars actually wait at the venue? Many Chennai venues and temples have very limited standing room. Knowing the waiting spot in advance saves an hour a day.

Traffic between hotel and venue at the actual hours you need it. Our drivers will tell you honestly, and a 20-minute journey on paper is often 45 in December.
