Outstation from Bangalore — the weekend is the product
Bangalore’s outstation demand has a shape that almost no booking platform prices for: out on Friday evening, back late on Sunday. Two nights, three days, one car that stays with you the whole time.
That is a round trip, and it should be quoted as one — with the daily minimum applied across the days. Booking it as two separate one-way drops costs more, leaves you without a car on the Saturday, and gives you two different drivers.
The five directions, and what each costs you in paperwork
The good weekend destinations from Bangalore sit in three different states, which is the detail that surprises people when the fare arrives:
- Coorg and Chikmagalur — coffee country, and both inside Karnataka. No permit. These are the cleanest weekends to price.
- Mysore — inside Karnataka, and now a genuinely fast run down the widened Mysore road. A comfortable day trip as well as a weekend.
- Ooty and the Nilgiris — Tamil Nadu, so a permit applies, and the last stretch is ghat driving that takes longer than the distance implies.
- Wayanad and Munnar — Kerala, another permit, and the Bandipur stretch toward Wayanad has night-traffic restrictions through the reserve that shape your departure time.
- Hampi — a long haul north, inside Karnataka, and better as three days than two.
We quote the permit as a named amount before you travel rather than as a surprise at the end.
The Friday evening problem
The single most useful piece of advice we give Bangalore customers: the first 40 km out of the city on a Friday evening can take as long as the next hundred.
So we plan around the peak rather than through it. Leaving early afternoon, or waiting until it breaks, both get you to Coorg sooner than departing at six.
Nandi Hills, and the 4am bookings
Sunrise at Nandi Hills means leaving Bangalore around 4am. It is a specific, regular, ownable booking — and the climb is narrow enough that a driver who has done it in the dark is worth having.

Outstation in Bangalore — FAQs
Which of the weekend destinations need an interstate permit?
Coorg, Chikmagalur, Hampi and anywhere else inside Karnataka do not. Ooty and the Nilgiris need a Tamil Nadu permit; Wayanad and Munnar need a Kerala one. It is charged at actuals and quoted before you travel, and because we already hold permits for both states it adds no delay.
Is a Friday-to-Sunday trip cheaper as a round trip or two one-way drops?
A round trip, almost always, because the car stays with you and the daily minimum applies across the days rather than a separate one-way minimum each way. Two drops also mean two different drivers and no car available on the Saturday, which is rarely what people actually want.
How early should we leave on a Friday for Coorg?
Earlier than feels necessary. Friday evening out of Bangalore is the single worst departure window of the week, and the first 40 km can take as long as the following hundred. Leaving before the evening peak, or after it has broken, both beat leaving in the middle of it.
Will you do a Nandi Hills sunrise run?
Yes, and it means leaving the city around 4am. It is a regular booking rather than a special request, and the road up is narrow enough that having a driver who has done it in the dark matters.
Can the driver stay with us for a two-night trip?
Yes, that is how a multi-day outstation booking works. A night halt allowance covers the driver's stay, charged per night as its own line rather than folded into the per-km rate.
